Hi-Q Recorder Setup

You have already loaded the Hi-Q Recorder software. So, go to your desktop and look for the new icon to run the recording software. It,s called FREE Hi-Q Recorder and looks like this:

double click to load the program. You will see this pop-up box

That's nice! We only need to use the facilities in the free version, so just sat OK. Now the program will start - it looks like this. . .

before you can start recording there are some options to be set up. This is to tell Hi-Q Recorder where to save the recordings you are going to make.  The good news is that most of the settings are fine as they are.  What we do have to do is tell the program where to save all the recordings.

The answer to this is up to you. I think you'll find it easier to set up a separate folder, called (say) ichurch to hold everything you do here. The next step is to click on Options (near the top of the program box). You will get 2 boxes appearing. A large one like this

and a small one like this

The small one is just info; click OK on it and it will be replaced by

This is a mini help file, and well worth a read. When you are ready, click OK in the lower left hand button to hide the box.

Now, go back to the Recording options box. On the left hand side, close to the bottom is a button labelled (Output recorded files to)  "Select". Click on this.

You will get a "Browse for Folder" box so you can choose when all your recordings will be stored. If you set up a special folder earlier, point to this now.

on my PC the folder is called Audio Recordings, and so my "Browse for Folder" box looks like this. When you have pointed at the right folder, click OK.

Now, immediately above the "Select" button we have just used is a white box, with the words H-Q Recorder already typed in.

This is the name that your recording will be given so we need to change it. Type in something appropriate - I recorded Mark Chapter 1 so my box looks like this

We are almost there. The final job is to make sure that your microphone is set as the Input Source. The drop down box (centre, top) will allow you to do this.

Don't worry about all the other settings - they should be pretty much as you see them above, the date will be current but we don't use that feature anyway.

The next page is all about making the recording itself - and that is real easy. Click here for the details.
