i-church Bible Recording Project

This page gives details of the i-church project to make an audio copy of the Bible

Software Required

In order to participate in this project, members will need some audio recording software available on their PC. Microsoft have been bundling a program called Audio Recorder with Windows since the days of Windows 95 but this is only suitable for recording up to 60 seconds of audio at a time.

This section describes some free software that can be downloaded from the internet which will provide the ability to make good quality recordings. The output will be in MP3 format.

The software can be downloaded here. It is Roemer Software Hi-Q Recorder version 1.9 and comes as a zipped executable file called freehiqrec.zip. Roemer Software website is www.roemersoftware.com. When you click on the download you will have an option to Run orSave.

I suggest you Save the software to a suitable location of your PC (I have a separate folder called "downloads" and I save all my downloads there for simplicity - it also means I can find them in the future!) Once you have downloaded the software onto your PC, go to the folder where you saved it. Mine looks like this.

you will have a box something like this. Double click on the programme icon to start the installation process. First you should see the program extracting itself

and then it will move on to the setup screen

click on Next>

You need to agree to accept the terms of the license to use this software. Click on "I accept. . . " and then click Next>

Click Next>

This tells your computer where to save the program. The default will be fine (and will probably be similar to mine). Click Next>

and again, since the default is good, just click on Next> here

Here you can choose to have a desktop item (which I have ticked) and / or a Quick launch icon (which I don't use). Set to your preference and then click Next>

You are all set to install now. Click Install

When the program has installed you will be presented with this screen.

So, click finish and your computer will restart. Go and make a cup of tea, you have loaded the software. On the next page we will set it all up.
